The Design

“Freshen up an original.”

Our Easy Folded Poncho transcends the trends. It's easy to knitjust one long stockinette rectangleeasy to finish, and easy to throw on. Our classic poncho is shown bottom row, center on Kate without the original cowl neck. You can make the poncho with the original cowl neck with just one additional skein of Felted Tweed.

We created our “v.2” version here by using two additional skeins of Felted Tweed to add an open collar in a pressed broad rib to give the original poncho a whole new look.

To summarize, in addition to your poncho yarn, one skein of Felted Tweed is enough to make it with the original cowl neck (not shown here, but see the for a photo).

The Details

FINISHED SIZE
Poncho: 22 x 50"/56 x 127cm, before folding.
Original Cowl Neck: 24"/61cm around by 8"/20cm tall.
"v.2" Collar: Approx. 29"/74cm around x 8"/20cm tall, after blocking.
"v.2" Sleeves (not shown): Approx. 12"/30cm around x 8"/20cm long, after blocking.
Note: Although the original poncho fits nearly everyone, adding sleeves pulls the fabric together under the arms and constrains the size a little—it should fit up to a 42" bust with ease.

YARN
Poncho without cowl: 5 skeins (191 yds/175m each); shown in color 153 Phantom.
Or approx. 840 yds/768 m of an equivalent DK-weight yarn.
Original Cowl: 1 skein Felted Tweed or approx. 140 yds/128m of an equivalent DK-weight yarn.
"v.2" Collar: 2 skeins Felted Tweed or approx. 215 yds/197m of an equivalent DK-weight yarn.
Note: To customize collar height, add or subtract 27 yds/25m for each 1"/2.5cm of adjusted length.
"v.2" Sleeves (two, not shown): 1 skein Felted Tweed or approx. 184 yds/169m of an equivalent DK-weight yarn. Note: To customize sleeve length, add or subtract 23 yds/21m total for 1"/2.5cm of adjusted length on both sleeves. (See our Fine Art and Kidsilk Haze for a photo of the sleeves.)

To summarize: If you want to make the poncho with the original cowl neck, add 1 skein of Felted Tweed to poncho yarn. If you want to add the "v.2" collar, add 2 skeins of Felted Tweed. If you want to add the "v.2" sleeves, add 1 skein of Felted Tweed. (Or add 3 skeins to make both "v.2" additions.)
